Oh dearest Ferrari. You are an egocentric child. ESPN is a large network with a wide audience. Sadly, not everyone shares your thirst to watch every 2-seemer comet into the safety of the catcher's mitt. It caters to the collective will of its people. SportsCenter does still indeed cover the important plays/performances of the games (ie, the unstoppable pitcher or the self-less defenseman), but it does so with the addition of a Tiger Woods sex rehab story. The beauty of being such a hardcore sports fan, such as yourself: you still have the urge to satisfy your sports cravings in other formats. The casual fan will seek SportsCenter as the entirety of its sporting news. While the hardcore will watch SportsCenter, sift through the areas that he deems irrelevant, and augment his sporting knowledge with the newspaper or on the web.
The casual fan watches SportsCenter and calls it a day. The hardcore fan watches SportsCenter and browses the internet.
Sometimes you have to cater to the lowest common denominator to be successful.
See John Madden.
